Genie Privacy Policy

This page explains what data reaches us, why, where it is kept, for how long, and what you can do about it. In short: most of Genie lives only on your phone; our server receives your sign-in email and whatever you choose to share. We don’t sell data, show ads, or use trackers or analytics.

Who is responsible

Genie is operated by Gleb Tkatchouk, Kehilat Brazil, 10, apt. 12, Tel Aviv Yaffo, 6753810, Israel. Email for any privacy question: support@bemygenie.app.

What stays on your phone

Wishes, people, occasions, reminders, photos and wishlists you haven’t shared are stored inside the app on your device and never reach us. Reminders are scheduled by the phone itself, without our server. If iCloud Backup is on, this data may be included in it — that is between you and Apple.

What reaches our server, and why

Legal bases

For people in the EU: sign-in, wishlists, reservations and access emails are necessary to perform our agreement with you (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)); protecting the service, the open counter and the names of people in your wishlists rely on our legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)) — the service can’t work without them, and we collect only what’s needed. We don’t ask for consent to advertising or tracking because there is none.

Other people in your wishlists

A wishlist can say who it is for — for example, “Mom”. We deliberately don’t ask for or store these people’s email, phone or address. If you found yourself in someone’s wishlist and want to be removed, write to support@bemygenie.app — we’ll reply and remove it within 30 days. What may be stored about you, who sees it and what to include in your email — on a separate page.

Service providers and where data is stored

We have a data processing agreement with each provider. Transfers outside the EU (to the United States) rely on the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.

How long we keep data

Your rights

You can find out what data we hold, correct it, export it, delete it and object to its processing. You can delete your account yourself: in the app under More → Account → Delete account, in a browser on the Account page. To export everything from your phone: More → Data → Export all. For anything else, email support@bemygenie.app; we reply within 30 days.

You may complain to a supervisory authority: in the EU, the data protection authority of your country; in Israel, the Privacy Protection Authority; in Belarus, the National Personal Data Protection Center.

Israel and Belarus

The operator is based in Israel, and processing is subject to Israel’s Protection of Privacy Law, 5741-1981. For people in Belarus, the Law of the Republic of Belarus No. 99-Z “On Personal Data Protection” also applies. Data is stored in the EU and transferred to the providers named above, including in the United States.

Children

Genie is meant for people aged 13 and over and is not directed to children. If we learn that a child under 13 created an account, we will delete it.

Security

Data travels only over encrypted connections; access to database rows is limited by server-side rules: everyone sees only their own data and what was shared with them.
